In a recent scientific break-through, researchers found they were able to detect orangutans in the rainforest with their thermal-imaging cameras on drones. The most recent test was done in Indonesian Borneo, and used to count the population of orangutans. But researchers had done similar tests with spider monkeys in Mexico and riverine rabbits in South Africa.
Researchers say the system could also be used to spot poachers.
